On November 16, 2018, President Donald Trump announced that he intends to nominate U.S. Environmental Protection Agency acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler to head the agency on a permanent basis. If formally nominated, acting Administrator Wheeler’s nomination would be initially handled by the Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee. Since taking charge of EPA, Mr. Wheeler has overseen, among other items, the proposal of a replacement for the Clean Power Plan and revisions to the Clean Air Act’s New Source Review program.
